I think I'm a meal prepper, a meal planner, a cook-up gal, an organised mum, all of it now!
This is week 2 of me popping aside 2-hours on the weekend, and doing a big family recipe meal prep session for my family of 5.
I prepped some protein brekkies for the kids, made freezable lunchbox recipes, cooked 5-meals + enough for leftovers and even did a couple of my healthy fermenting recipes too.
Oh did I mention, I got all this done in 2-hours? I popped on a audiobook, cleared the kids out and went at it!
Steps In My Meal Prep Session:
1. Shop your freezer - I checked the freezer for what I had. I had some chicken, so I popped that in water to defrost before I went shopping.
2. Planned -I wrote a list of exactly what I wanted to cook, in order for which would take the longest to shortest. That way, I could use the prep time well.
3. Shopped - I bought just what I needed, and that is big for a foodie like me. I love all the things! I spent $310, and that included some other items I needed for the pantry.
4. I did this one a weekday - Last weeks cook-up I did on a weekend, but this weeks, I did on a Monday. Not every week is going to be the same, but gosh the knock-on effect of no dinner stress helps me find time during the week.
5. Cleaned the kitchen & fridge - I'm not in the habit of doing that weekly, so it took me 5-mins.
6. Cooked - I started with the meals that took longer to prep, first. I made a couple of batches of my fermented kombucha gummies as they take an hour or so to set. Then I moved on to the meals I needed to 'cook' in full, through to the ones I just needed to prep. It helped it flow.
7. Cleaned - Everything went away, the dishwasher went on, it was ace.
8. Felt like a rockstar - Check out some photos below of how the meals were. I often share what we're eating, the sides, all the stuff on my Instagram, so be sure to follow along there too.
